A good night's sleep is one of the most important pillars for good life quality. Sleeping a regular 7-8 hour night is beneficient for your short term health as well as for the length of your life. The other day, I read that not only sleeping less than that, but also sleeping more than that, will shorten your life. A good and regular sleep obviously make you think and act quicker in a waken state. Then, an interesting question is what really is going on during sleep. Today, I stumbled into this >>text suggesting that "sleep really is one of the most effective ways to effortlessly spur creative thinking", boosting the meaning of the old say 'sleep on it'.

framtid för Norrbotten och hyllning till Boden

Den 27 maj talade jag i Norrbotten under titeln 'Hur kan din plats bli rätt plats?' i samband med Länsstyrelsens arrangemang 'Vi tar tempen på länet! : Attraktivitet - nya näringar och goda livsmiljöer'. Norrbotten må ha sina utmaningar med befolkningstal och utflyttning av kvinnor. Men länet uppvisar mycket sprudlande vilja och god potential inför framtiden. Värdstad för dagen var Boden. Så här löd min hyllning till staden:

the face of the passing interspace

Kvillebäcken, Gothenburg. Before the sun sets behind the rooftops, I watch the light of graffiti art rise in the liminality of an area torn down, waiting for a new one to be built.

Gentrification by a blow. Not by a flow. A political decision which levels the old to the ground and replaces it with a detailed plan of a new residential area. Leaving no space, whatsoever, for future imagination. And still, it loudly proclaims:

"With a little imagination, you can see the sun set behind the roof ridges." The words are those of the first add revealing what is to become of the bare terrain.

And yet, or because of that, seeds of imagination are being planted by graffiti artists finding a free but temporary space to work on.

The old and the new area stand in sharp contrast to each other. Nevertheless, the current interspace activity seems to be whispering, wanting for something in between... But how long will it go on? How long will there be allowing room? Not knowing, I report with an eye on the face of a passing interspace.

firar 15 år av kamp för barn & ungas rättigheter

Röda Korsets Ungdomsförbunds riksårmöte går av stapeln denna helg i Norrköping - parallellt med att Svenska Röda Korset har sin stämma. Jag har nöjet att tillsammans med fantastiska Hanna Hallin vara ordförande för ungdomsförbundets möte. Det är definitivt en ära att få vara med och underlätta med struktur till det beslutsfattande som banar väg för framtiden i en organisation som gör mycket nytta för barn och unga i Sverige och världen.

Utöver de spännande framtidsdiskussionerna, firar idag Röda Korsets Ungdomsförbund sin 15 årsdag med tårtkalas. Från gårdagen uppmärksammas den manifestation vi höll idag av NT: Alla barn leker inte krig.
